[Solved] Digital Camera Memory Card Not showing Photo/Video Files.

Memory card corruption often results from human error.

A corrupted memory card has damaged data that prevents it from performing properly. If a card becomes unreadable, you may not be able to access files on it.

 Causes of memory card corruption
  • Turning off a camera before an image is completely written to the memory card.
  • Removing the memory card from a camera while an image is being written to the card.
  • Removing the card from a memory card reader while files are still being transferred to a computer.
  • Continually shooting and deleting, shooting and deleting images when the card is full.
  • Taking photos too rapidly so the camera cannot complete writing one image before starting the next.

If the card is still readable, try retrieving the files using this method:
  • use a card reader and connect it to your computer.
  • run cmd.exe
  • type: dir/s (normal dir might not show everything, this one does)
  • locate the directory (folder) of your photo/video files. (Scan the card with your antivirus software and take note the location of your files)
  • go to that directory: (e.g., type: cd DIR1\DIR2)
  • type: c:
  • make a directory in c: (e.g., type: md mycamphotos)
  • type: e: (this takes you back to the DIR1\DIR2 directory)
  • type: copy *.* c:\mycamphotos
  • After successfully recovering your files, Eject the card  from your computer.
  • Format the card through your digital camera.

Tip: Make sure your Secured Digital memory card is unlocked

If you’re using a SD or SDHC card, make sure the small write-protection switch on the left side near the top of the card is not enabled. Sometimes a card gets locked when inserting it into the camera or card reader. Gently slide the write-protection switch down to unlock it.
